About Septic Indiana
Septic Indiana explains how septic permits actually work in Indiana, county by county, and connects homeowners with independent local septic contractors. It is operated by Compass Camper LLC (Oregon), trading as Compass Lead Group. We are not a contractor. We do not install, repair, inspect or pump anything, and nobody here holds a trade license.
Why the site exists
Indiana runs septic permitting through 92 county health departments. The state writes one rule and every county administers it with its own forms, its own fees and its own installer requirements. A homeowner who searches for the answer finds the state rule, a county page that assumes you already know the process, or a contractor's blog. That gap is what this site fills.
How we handle facts
Every regulatory statement on this site names the rule or the agency page it came from and the date we read it. When a requirement is set by a county rather than the state we say so, and we tell you to confirm with your county health department, because those requirements change and no single page stays current for all 92 counties.
What we do not publish
- Prices. Septic work is priced from a site visit, and a number on a web page is a guess.
- Reviews or ratings of contractors, because we do not have a review system to report.
- Claims about how fast a contractor will call you back. We route the request; the rest is theirs.
Need the job done, not just the rule explained
Your request goes to an independent local septic contractor serving your Indiana county, not a national lead list.
